LED Reverse Lights for 5th Gen 4Runner

LED Reverse Lights 4Runner - Final

Reverse Lights LED Swap on 5th Gen Toyota 4Runner – Ultra Bright LED Reverse Lights

One major light you want to replace is the back-up/reverse light bulbs. By replacing your reverse lights as well as your license plate lights with new bulbs, you will have better vision in reverse at night. For even better reverse lighting, you should take a look at the tail as turn mod by Diode Dynamics.

When you are looking at your dash screen in reverse, it is incredibly hard to see in dark conditions. Sometimes I don’t even use the reverse camera because it’s so dark. You may have experienced this as well.

License plate lights are a good start, but the reverse lights are great for night visibility. Going from stock bulbs in the reverse light housing to ultra-bright LED bulbs, your visibility will be better. The light output on these ultrabright LED bulbs is much better than the factory bulbs.

Not only is your visibility better, but the color of the lights is better. The color of these ultra-bright LED reverse lights are crystal white.

Definitely want to encourage people to shop around. I found this at my local autozone for half the price of the amazon link and walmart was also 10$ cheaper than amazon.

No Lie, this is a top 5 mod for me. I back in and out everywhere I can, but with the improved light I feel like I could drive full time in reverse. Diode Dynamics, gold stars. Thanks for the writeup!

Do you know what stock lumens and wattage are? I don’t want to burn anything up putting a 50watt reverse light on my 2020 4runner

What is the red light that is above the back window? I can’t seem to find the replacement bulb for that anywhere. Thanks

Hello I need help. I switched out halogens like you did and they worked fine at night. Then in the morning they weren’t working. I tried switching them around and still nothing. I put halogens bak in so I can return the led lights and those now don’t work. Plus they don’t snap in like they use to. Now I have no working reverse lights. Any ideas ???

I looked these up on Amazon and it had me enter my car details (2018 4Runner) and it says these do not fit my car, is that so?

Does this mod interfere or throw a dash light due to the bulb swap? Sometimes vehicles don’t see the LED bulbs and bring up an indicator on the dad that a bulb is out.

Walk-throughs are the best. Look is a great idea, more specifically after I got my rear windows tinted and now it’s dark as night back there this might help. @kgagne3

Thanks for the instructions on how to switch them out.. I’m hoping to change these out soon – I agree the lights on the Runners are not bright at all. Thinking of also buying the adaptor to switch the brake/reverse lights for even more light!
