Aftermarket Black Wheel Setups for 5th Gen Toyota 4Runner – 7 Unique Looks To Inspire Your Off-Road & Overland Build in 2022

This Week’s Topic: Black After Market Wheels

Welcome back to another Feature Friday! If you missed last week’s FF, we showcased some full length roof rack setups that you should definitely check out!

This week we are focusing on both style and performance in the form of aftermarket wheels in the color black. Aftermarket wheels are some of the first mods new owners make to their 4Runners. With seemingly a million options currently available, picking one couldn’t be a more difficult decision.

What makes this decision especially difficult? To start, each brand has its own off-road-oriented models and designs. You’ll also have to consider the sizing and amount of offset with regard to potential clearance issues and the overall stance of your rig. Lastly, there’s the color that you think will look good on your rig.

Stressful right? If only there was an 4Runner wheel buyer’s guide for you to check out! Let’s dive into these 7 rigs with their aftermarket black wheel options. If you’re in the market, we’ve included the models, size, price, and what each owner likes about their setup to hopefully help guide you in your decision.

Enjoy!

1. Keaton Briscoe (@ksco03) – Fuel Off-Road

Black Fuel Off Road Wheels on Nautical Blue 5th Gen Toyota 4Runner

Wheel Details

  • Model: D664
  • Size: 17×9 | -12mm offset
  • Price: ~$325/wheel

What Do You Like About Your Setup?

I feel they compliment the truck well and most importantly, are different from a lot of rigs that I have seen. The price is a little high compared to other wheels, but the fact that they are unique makes me happy to have purchased them. They really look good with my Nautical Blue 4Runner.

2. Name (@overland.rnr) – Falcon Off-Road

Cement Gray 5th Gen 4Runner with Falcon Off-Road Atlas HD Wheels

Wheel Details

  • Model: Atlas
  • Size: 17×9 | -15mm offset
  • Price: ~$295/wheel

What Do You Like About Your Setup?

I love the Atlas model because of the concave look. The wheels really provide a more aggressive stance with the -15mm offset. The negative offset paired with 11-inch wide tires really sets off the appearance of my 4Runner. I couldn’t be happier with my wheel choice.

3. Kevin Huynh (@panda_t4r) – Volk Racing

Super White 5th Gen Toyota 4Runner with Volk Racing TE37XT M-Spec Blast Black

Wheel Details

  • Model: TE37XT M-Spec Blast Black
  • Size: 17×8.5 | -10mm offset
  • Price: ~$750/wheel

What Do You Like About Your Setup?

What I like the most about my wheels is that they are forged. Forged wheels are the lightest and strongest available on the market. I also like the fact that they’re laser engraved and have a very nice finish. The wheels have been something I’ve been wanting for this rig ever since I bought it. I purchased these at the height of the pandemic and with the delay in shipping, received them about 11 months from the initial purchase date.

4. Romeo Cabras Jr. (@9th_island_runner) – Advan Racing

Voodoo Blue 5th Gen 4Runner with Advanced Racing Wheels RG-D2 Black Chrome

Wheel Details

  • Model: RG-D2 Black Chrome
  • Size: 17×8.5 | -10 offset
  • Price: $590/wheel

What Do You Like About Your Setup?

This wheel has been on my radar for a long time. Shout out to the team at Showstoppers Las Vegas for getting these JDM wheels in! These wheels are light, strong, and the design gives the black chrome a different appearance depending on the angle that you look at it. These totally changed the dynamic of how my rig looks now. The white lettering out on the Baja Legend tires really makes it pop.

5. Luis (@riqrunner) – Summit Wheels

Matte Black Summit Dakar Wheels on 5th Gen 4Runner

Wheel Details

  • Model: Dakar Matte Black
  • Size: 17×9.0 | -25mm offset
  • Price: ~$225/wheel

What Do You Like About Your Setup?

One of my favorite thing about these wheels is the design. The wheel design really compliments my tires, as well as my roof rack. It just looks simple and clean. The negative offset helps provide an aggressive stance, which is also another one of my favorite things about these wheels.

6. Joe McNew (@nepa.t4r) – Relations Race Wheels

Barcelona Red 5th Gen 4Runner with Black Relations Race Wheels RR7-H

Wheel Details

  • Model: RR7-H
  • Size: 17×8.5 | -25 offset
  • Price: ~$295/wheel

What Do You Like About Your Setup?

My favorite thing that I like about my RRWs is the stance that they give the 4Runner. I had TRD pro wheels previously with a zero offset and although they looked good, these with the -25mm offset look super clean and simple on my setup. The matte black wheels match perfectly with everything I have on the vehicle now.

7. Luis Castillo (@mrluilou) – FIFTEEN52

Magnetic Grey 5th Gen 4Runner with Asphalt Black Analog HD Fifteen52 Wheels

Wheel Details

  • Model: Analog HD Asphalt Black
  • Size: 17X8.5 | BS 4.75″
  • Price: ~$330/wheel

What Do You Like About Your Setup?

The main reason I decided to go with the Analog HD wheels is that they are subtle and have that steelie look. The steelie-looking wheels look awesome on the 4Runner. They are easy to clean and not very common on the road.

Final Thoughts

Fifteen52 Analog HD Asphalt Black Wheels on 5th Gen 4Runner

What a great group of rigs for this week’s Feature Friday. Black aftermarket wheels are iconic and they can truly go with any colored rig. They aren’t overly flashy either and take a more subtle approach to customization which I do like.

If you would like to be considered for next week’s Feature Friday, we will be showcasing the Top 5 Essential Off-Road Items.
