10 Unique Silver 5th Gen 4Runner Setups to Inspire Your Off-Road & Overland Build – Front Bumpers, RTTs, Light Bars, Suspension, Wheels/Tires & More!
This Weeks Topic: Silver 5th Gen 4Runner Builds
Ah, silver, one of the most popular colors on the 5th Gen Toyota 4Runner aside from white. What I like most about doing color-specific Feature Fridays, is that you get a variety of different builds based on the owner’s specific needs and tastes. We have never had a Feature Friday where builds share the exact same mods or are 100% the same spec.
That’s also what I like most about the 4Runner platform in general, no matter how simple the build is, there is usually something that really sets it apart from the rest. Even if you choose to run some of the same mods/companies as somebody else, you can bet that your 4Runner will still be unique in its own way.
Builds are based 94% on user needs and preferences, and the other 6% might just be based on Instagram likes (insert mall crawler pun).
Whether you daily your 4Runner to the office, tow a trailer down to the lake, or have a full-blown overland build, you will find inspiration for your silver 4Runner build below. This week we have 11 super awesome silver 4Runner specs for you to pull some inspiration from. With this lineup below, you are sure to get some build ideas from their lighting setups, bumper setups (full-width or lo-pro bumper), wheel/ tire combinations, and/or much more. Enjoy!

WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT YOUR SETUP?
A little over a year ago, I had to part with my white 2018 Toyota FJ Cruiser. Upon landing in the US, following a three-year stay in the Middle East, I headed to pick up a 4Runner as soon as I exited the airport. That particular day, the dealer had only three vehicles on the lot and only one TRD Off-Road model, so I settled into silver. A year later, I am very happy with the contrast and clean look of all the black gear on silver.
Having built this rig to wander, it mostly sits in the garage between trips. I’m not much of a planner and mostly travel day-to-day. I like the feeling of freedom this setup up provides… that I can head any direction and go just about anywhere I want on a moment’s notice. The abundance of storage helps make room for the pup, luggage, camera, and camping equipment. The added privacy of dark tint and ExoShield protection is great peace of mind when loaded down both on and off the road or even parked on the grid overnight. The dual batteries and communication upgrades make it more comfortable traveling solo as well.
Thanks to Trail4R for info and inspiration thus far, as well as the four shops across Texas, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Florida for continually helping me along the way.

The reliability and capability of this Toyota platform have been great.
I primarily use the rig for traveling and camping and my setup has finally come together. The fridge, propane mount, and drop-down table on the Ultraswing were game-changers. I have had more fun with this vehicle than any other vehicle that I have previously owned.

It’s a tough pick but I’d have to say the suspension.
Radflo’s build quality and bulletproof design have made for a night and day difference compared to my old Bilstein setup. Without great suspension, I can’t do other things with ease like camping, crawling, or flying through desert roads.

The Rago molle panels are very well built and allow for extra storage. The Expedition One rocker guards help for added protection. Oh yeah, and the color silver… It just looks so good.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT YOUR SETUP?
This setup was built around the RTT. When I was living in Utah, I wanted to go camping and explore every weekend. Being able to set up and tear down camp as fast as possible was my primary goal. In 2019, I made the decision to buy the RTT instead of Kings. I opted for the Bilsteins 6112/5160 combo because it was a budget-friendly, capable suspension that can do the job until I was ready to purchase Kings. As I continued to explore, I proceeded to purchase more armor to protect the rig from costly damage.
The rig got heavier and driving on the highway became so painful. That’s when I knew a regear was necessary. I added the rear locker because it’s better to have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it. Now, I’m building the rig to be capable to find the most scenic and secluded spots. I also purchased a Sunray 109 travel trailer to feed my primary goal. 700lb adjustable Kings are going on soon with Dirt King Heim UCAs and Dobinsons 749 rear springs. A supercharger is the next mod to help the rig pull the trailer up hills.

I’m loving the ride with the new King setup. I actually just installed it. I was waiting on the King set up to put on the C4 Lo pro due to the added weight.
I added the winch and skid since I was adding a bunch of weight anyway. I love how it all came together.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT YOUR SETUP?
Having a silver 4Runner was not my preferred color, but after owning this vehicle for quite some time, I have grown to appreciate the color. The biggest advantage of this color is that it does not show dirt and pinstriping as much as other colors.
So far, what I love most about my setup is my suspension from Dobinsons. The IMS setup provides plenty of clearance along with a smooth ride. Installation was fairly straightforward and was able to accomplish within a weekend. My future plans are to install a steel rear bumper and a rooftop tent.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT YOUR SETUP?
I love my Alpha Foxtrot roof rack! The low profile, non-drill, and modularity are what sold me. Having a no-hassle mounting solution makes life easier. The side rails have an M-lock design to where I am able to drop in tie down eyelets at a drop of a dime. The T-slot cross rails make it a breeze as well, having drilled out both ends of the crossbar to slide in 1/4” carriage bolts or eyelets for endless mounting solutions. This will save you so much time without having to remove or unbolt the crossbars. I personally feel as if the roof rack is the cherry on top of your rig!
