Feature Friday: 10 5th Gen 4Runner Front Ends Worth Taking Inspiration From
This Weeks Topic: Front End Friday
Time for a classic and simple Front End Friday! Front End Friday is a VERY popular hashtag on Instagram with over 1.4 Million posts and climbing, every, single, Friday. The 5th Gen 4Runner has a very timeless design, but I feel that the front end is my favorite angle to look at it from. So with that being said, I wanted to focus this Friday on not only the front end on the 4Runner but what makes each of these front ends unique, aka (MODS LIST). Below you will find 10 awesome 4Runner front ends, each unique in its own way. Some are FULLY built out with hybrid front bumpers, long-travel suspension, crazy lighting setups, and some OEM + setups. As always this list is in no [particular order, and also let’s show these owners some love by following their builds on Instagram. Thanks, guys!
I hope that you all had a great Thanksgiving with whoever you were able to enjoy it with. Thank you all for always coming back to enjoy our Feature Friday shout-outs! This Overland/Toyota community is the best. I’ll see ya guys next week!
Enjoy and have a great weekend!

It’s a clean mean look with plenty of armor and lumens! While the build is still in progress and currently spends more time in the garage than on the trail, I am currently on the last stretch of mods hoping to be out of the garage and back on the trails. For this build, I have focused on keeping things as clean as possible while adding plenty of functionality for a rig that is good both on-road and off-road. My favorite part of the front of the rig is probably the armor with the custom adapter plate that makes it all flow with an OEM+ TRD look.

I have been upgrading and modifying as I’ve seen fit for my needs. It does everything I want it to do and I have been building it as my skill progresses so it’s a process I have really enjoyed doing. Learning and modding as you seem needed, is what I think to be the best way of doing it. You’ll learn your rigs capability and your own as well which is what usually gets us in trouble not knowing the limits.
Happy modding!

The 4Runner looks good all around, but that front end though!! I love the OEM + look! The CBI bumper follows all the OEM lines, especially with the honeycomb grille around fog lights make this bumper pretty unique. I went with the full steal option for optimal strength. I’ve been rocking this bumper for 5+ years. CBI = quality. Other things about my rig… I will forever ride the OEM TRD PRO wheels, They are perfection in my opinion (one of the reasons why I originally purchased the PRO. Icon Stage 5 has been nothing but amazing. On-road they are smooth like butter, I mean luxury smooth, Cadillac riding… Then you get them off-road and they perform just as they should, eating up every bump and obstacle thrown at it with ease. Also with the adjustable ride height of up to 3.5”, you`ll be sitting tall (Highly recommend ICON suspension). All in all, this is my daily driver/weekend warrior. My build has taken me everywhere I need to go and has never let me down. This build is semi complete. Next Mod, saving for a teardrop trailer.

The mods I put are always based on the trails I ran. I always ask myself “what would have made the car handle better?” This way, I can avoid unnecessary modifications.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT YOUR SETUP?
Other than the “raptor“ lights, everything installed has a purpose that helps me explore our Arizona desert and mountains with added confidence. The functionality and quality of these products are top notch without breaking the bank.
IMO it’s just a “simple & clean” look. Just added a little more of that “ in your face“ look to the already aggressive frontend.

It’s an ongoing set up but what I like the most about this setup is the high viper cut bumper. You still have that original look to the 4runner but with high approach angles when on the trails.

The all black clean look just works for me. My goal was to make a unique Limited build. LIL B’s front bumper ties in with the RSG skids perfectly. The cherry on top is the Baja design ambers.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT YOUR SETUP?
Back in 2018/19, I was looking to fill the gap under my Baja Rack Roof Rack… Many I’ve seen all opted for a standard light bar. Which was cool don’t get me wrong, but I was looking for something unique. I knew I wanted round lights but KC was the only one offering round lights at the time and I had already had the BDs as my fogs and ditch. At this time the linkable wasn’t even an option so I had to think of my own solution.. 9 lights (5 sets of the pair) is what I came up with and at the time there weren’t many doing the same. So wired up the Amber WC/Combos on one switch and the center Spots are on another. Beautifully controlled lighting for wherever I’m at!!

WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT YOUR SETUP?
When I first started the build, I knew I wanted a clean look, as I was going for an “OEM plus” look. Not sure if I went past that point. I built it to be functional offroad without wanting to add too much weight since it is also my daily driver.
