AJT Custom Climate Control Knobs: An Easy DIY Interior Upgrade For the 5th Gen 4Runner

So how do you install the climate knobs?
The Install Process
Installing these custom climate control knobs is extremely easy. It only takes about 5 minutes and can be done without any tools at all. Let’s get started!
Step 1. Remove Old Climate Control Knobs
To do this, you simply get a good grip on the climate knob and pull straight back. It does take a bit of force, so don’t worry about breaking something. Just give it a good backward tug and the knob will come right off.
Step 2. Swap Out Red Indicator To New Knobs
Pull the red indicator out of the old climate control knob and put it in the new AJT climate control knob.
One thing to note is that the center “AC” knob has a different indicator than the other two knobs, so keep this indicator separate from the others.
Step 3. Align & Secure Control Knob Into Place
After putting the red indicator into your new climate control knobs, simply align the control knob where it should go and push it on.
This is all there is to it! Simply do this process for all three knobs and you are good to go!
Overall Impression

Hi! I recently purchased a 2021 4runner SR5 Premium and qant to do purple custom climate control knobs. Are you able to do other custom colors like purple??
HIGHLY disappointed that AJT doesn’t have radio knobs for 4RUNNER. I’ve got shift, transfer, and climate control updates… but no radio??? What are they thinking? WHY NO 4RUNNER radio knobs?
I was in the same boat, I got all the other ajt control knobs for my 4Runner but they had no radio knobs, I couldn’t believe they didn’t have them either, then a few months ago I seen that they had them on their website finally and ordered a pair. I was excited until I got them and installed them. They fit but not very snug, so I sent him back and just put my stock ones back on, needless to say I was not happy with ajt designs in terms of how they designed those radio control knobs.
Installed the Red knobs/screws a couple of days ago, my .02 follows.
With the red knobs, the indicator tab can be a little difficult to distinguish during the day. It’s not a deal breaker for me, maybe at some point down the road some type of contrasting color or ‘thing’ can be added to the red knobs where the indicator slides in. I have a white paint-pen, maybe give that a try. The install is as stated above and only took several minutes (I took my time). Watching the video is always a good idea as well. The only hick-up I had was one of the indicators was a bit loose within the knob but it eventually went together. All-in-all, I’m happy with the knobs and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them for a bit of personal touch to the interior. Thanks!
Are matching audio control knobs available?
Update for you, they now provide audio control knobs. I’ve been keeping an eye on them because I had no intention on buying them without matching climate control knobs. At this moment in time they have the same colors available as the climate control knobs with the exception of “Quicksand”.
I asked the guys at AJT,,, said possibly!
The other thing to improve the looks would be a blackout vinyl overlay for the air flow display & temperature setting, to eliminate the silver background.
Currently, no…but hopefully we will have some in the future!
I see pictured above that it fit a 4Runner with the console screen in the middle, but on the AJT website, it shouldn’t fit that 5th generation Toyota.
They don’t fit the limited 4Runner. Every other 4Runner, they fit.
I’d love to see a replacement for the 4-wheel drive selector on my 2012 limited

How do they feel compared to the stock knobs?.. I love the satisfying feel and click of the stock knobs so wondering if these compromise the feel.
The click comes from the shaft the knobs are attached to, so that tactile click shouldn’t change at all.
After reading this I bought some and just installed them. Thank you! Got tired of the dab, boring gray.
