It doesn’t take much to fill up the 4Runner’s center console. The small space under your elbow becomes a catch-all for sunglasses, tools, snacks, and whatever else you can pack in there. When driving, I find myself playing the guessing game trying to figure out where my sunglasses are or find that USB charger without looking.

I attempted to stay organized by keeping items in small pouches to help keep some of those smaller items together. While it worked to keep those smaller items together, my console just became a pile of the pouches instead.

This has been one of the longest postponed additions that I have put off for way too long.

  • Installation Time: 5 minutes
  • Tools Required: None

Step 1. Slide & Snap Together

Installation is a breeze; start by sliding the two smaller panels into the grooves to the larger panel. Insert the dividers into the center console.

Step 2. Drop It In

Easy as that and you’re done; drop in your Salex Organizer tray and start making your life more organized!

Below Deck in the Organizer

In the lower portion, I keep items that I need but don’t need to be quickly accessed. Such as extra sunglasses, tool kit, leatherman, flashlight, etc.

Top Deck

In the top portion, I keep easy to grab items such as mints, pens, floss, clippers, and chapstick.

Fun Fact: The pen holder in the lid portion is the perfect size to keep a metal reusable straw.

Initial Impressions

My initial worry was having the tray block access to items that I frequently use or need to grab while driving. After a few days worth of driving, I came to the realization that I was just used to only having only a single storage area. Having two separate storage areas, it’s great to put some of the rarely used items below and have my frequently used ones on top.

Final Thoughts

Why did I wait so long before adding this to my 4Runner? For the benefit, you gain to the cost ratio this is a hands-down must-buy. All my items are much more organized in my center console, sunglasses, tool pouch, and other miscellaneous items all have their own dedicated spot now.

This checks the big three boxes for being a must-have. Simple, affordable, and functional.

I noticed in the “Drop it in” picture for step 2 you have drilled a hole to hide the 12V power cord. Does that cord just run straight forward to something or on the side? Just wondering why you have bypassed the mold hole for the cord?

One of the first things I looked for when I got my 4Runner was organization add ons for the center console and glove box. This is the way I went for the console, and I did get the full bundle. A worthy investment.
A question for the author, or anyone. I see the USB plug in the console, with a wire going to a hole just in front of it. 1.) What does this power? 2.) Is the hole an aftermarket mod, or have I just not noticed it in mine? 3. ) If aftermarket, any chance for a tutorial or article I can reference?

Thanks for the review!
