What’s the Difference Between the Luxx Series and the Pro Series AlphaRex Tail Lights for the 5th Gen 4Runner?

When it comes to tail lights, you have tons of options. AlphaRex offers one of the most impressive lines of tail lights currently available for the 5th Gen 4Runner. They have a very wide variety of options when it comes to unique styles and designs that can fit just about any build out there.

Tail light technology has come a long way, and today I wanted to share with you guys some of the new technology that’s been integrated into the new AlphaRex tail lights. From startup sequence to turn signals, and parking lights to brake lights, a lot has changed.

AlphaRex Tail Lights – Full Overview

The market has demanded that all lighting switch to LED.

Any of the mainstream tail lights you upgrade to are likely to be LED and that’s definitely the case with the new AlphaRex Luxx & Pro series.

We just installed a set of the Luxx-series Alpha-Black tail lights on our 5th Gen 4Runner and boy do they look amazing. Beyond the Alpha-Black tail lights we installed, I wanted to give you a look at their entire lineup of tail lights including the Luxx series and the Pro series, and then compare them in a little more detail.

Impressive Specs

They are all very similar in design and style but there are a few differences that really set them apart from each other.

PRO-Series Red Smoke

This red clear or “red smoke” housing gives the 4Runner a stock-ish look while adding some impressive LED functionality and sequential turn signals. This is a very clean and simple housing that is going to match all the factory lighting on the 5th Gen 4Runner. The red smoke housing features red LED tubes. The red smoke is one of the most basic-looking offerings that AlphaRex has but then again, that might be the look you are going for. I think these would be rad on a black, MGM, or white 4Runner depending on your specs.

PRO-Series Jet Black

The jet black housing will give your 4Runner a more sporty look over the red smoke housings. This is where the housings really start to pop as the Pro-Series jet black features white LED tubes and an amber LED that will have your sequential turn signals breaking necks.

Luxx-Series Black

The Luxx-series black is very similar to that of the black-red listed above. The only difference is that you have an amber gradient light instead of the red for the activation feature. That’s the light ignition-on feature that floats the LED through the tube from left to right and then repeats the cycle a few times before ending on a red led tube. I like the Luxx-series black a lot. The dual set of triple line accents against the white LED tubes really makes this version super aggressive. I wouldn’t mind running this version at all.

Luxx-Series Black-Red

This is where things start to heat up. The Luxx-series LED tail lights kick off things with a more well-defined housing and many more details. The Luxx-series offers up blacked-out “AlphaRex” badging, detailed dual triple-line accents, diffuser lights between the LED tubes, and most notably their signature AlphaRex activation light. The AlphaRex activation light is found on many of their housings with the parking light enabled. It throws a sequence when you ignition on your 4Runner. It’s a gradient red light that floats through the tube from left to right and then repeats the cycle a few times before ending on a red LED tube.

Luxx-Series Alpha-Black

This is black on black on black. Black badging, blacked-out LED tubes, blacked-out diffuser lens, and blacked-out triple line accents. Wow. The only thing that’s not blacked out is the red reflector to remain DOT/SAE compliant. In any case, this is the ultimate in blacked-out tail light housings you will find for the 5th Gen 4Runner.
