Luno Window Screens For 4Runner – Review

5th Gen 4Runner with Luno Window Screens

Premium Window Covers That Are Perfect For Car Camping

If you love car camping in your 4Runner, you’ve likely experienced those uncomfortably warm nights from having to keep the windows rolled up. Or, maybe you’ve dealt with bugs inside while you’re just relaxing at camp. If this sounds like you, Luno has the perfect solution with its lineup of window screens.

These screens fit seamlessly over your 4Runner’s windows, including the sunroof (game-changer!), allowing you to enjoy the cool evening breeze, keep the bugs out, and maintain your privacy—all while keeping your windows open.

In this post, we’ll go over the benefits of each window screen Luno offers and provide a quick installation overview and review.

Sunroof

This is a must-have if your 4Runner is equipped with a sunroof. Crafted from lightweight and durable 70D Nylon 50×50 elastic mesh, it features a double-layered design that protects against insects while allowing fresh air to flow freely into the cabin. The scratch-free, magnetic attachment ensures a snug, windproof seal around the sunroof. Keeping your sunroof open while sleeping helps reduce condensation, keeping your interior dry and comfortable throughout the night.

This should fit most commonly sized sunroofs.

How To Install

  1. Start by loosely placing the screen on top of your sunroof. Since it’s magnetic, it will quickly attach to your roof.
  2. Begin by aligning one side of the screen, ensuring it runs parallel to the edge of the sunroof. Then, move to the other side of the vehicle and do the same.
  3. Once both sides are aligned, check that the screen is flush with the roof to prevent any gaps where bugs could enter. After everything is secure, you can open your sunroof and enjoy the fresh air.

Side Windows

These are a versatile addition to any camping setup, offering enhanced privacy and protection from bugs. Made from the same durable mesh, these screens easily slide over the doors, allowing fresh air to flow. Their double-layered mesh design prevents bug ingress, blocks UV rays, and minimizes direct sunlight. Like the sunroof screen, these screens help combat condensation, keeping your 4Runner’s interior dry and comfortable for a better night’s sleep.

This is a universal product.

How to Install

  1. You can install these on one or several of your windows. We recommend the rear windows since that’s where you’ll be sleeping.
  2. Slide the screen over the top of the window frame, ensuring the mesh is evenly aligned with the edges.
  3. Once everything is properly positioned, you can open the window for a refreshing breeze.

Trunk Window

The hatch window cover is exclusively designed for those who prefer to camp with their tailgate window open. Made from mosquito-proof mesh, it allows for amazing airflow, especially with the other windows rolled down. Like the others, it effectively keeps insects, dust, and UV rays out. It also provides a privacy layer and shields the interior from direct sunlight.

Similar to the sunroof screen, the trunk screen is held in place with strong magnets around the perimeter. This forms a secure seal, ensuring the screen remains in place while you rest.

How to Install

  1. Roll down your rear window.
  2. Then, loosely place the screen over the window. Ensure the Luno tag on the screen is located in the lower right corner for proper orientation.
  3. Align the screen around the entire window. Carefully adjust the screen to ensure it fits snugly around the edges of the window frame.
  4. Tuck the top of the screen into the gap of the weather seal. This is where your window typically slides into. Gently push the foam sections of the screen into this gap for a secure fit. Ensure the entire top portion is tucked in properly to prevent insects from getting in.
  5. Once you’ve finished securing the screen, double-check that there are no gaps or openings.

Final Thoughts

Luno Window Screen Review On 4Runner

Overall, Luno’s window screens are a great investment for anyone who loves car camping in their 4Runner. The extra airflow, critter protection, and increased privacy create much more comfortable living quarters. Plus, they’re super easy to use and built to last.

I appreciate the innovative design of each screen and love that there are different options to help maximize airflow while you’re sleeping. A nice bonus is that you can drive with them on (I tested at speeds up to 35 mph). So, you can easily move to the next campsite without removing everything.

Even if you buy every single one you could for a 5th Gen, it would only be $255. And I don’t think you need ALL of them. I would think that a set of two door window ones, and the rear hatch one would well together. About $120 total.

I don’t know where this math is coming from, haha. $255 if you buy them all. And you would be just fine with one or two.
