How to Add Carbon Fiber to your Center Console on the 5th Gen 4Runner

This might be a two-fold mod for some people out there.

The first thing that came to my mind was simply changing the look of the center console but after seeing how the product is applied, it acts as a protectant as well.

Whether you are looking to change the look of your center console to carbon fiber or protect your center console from common, everyday use scratches, this might work for you.

For both the OCD personality like my self and someone who is tired of the flat black look that most 4Runners have, this is a pretty cool little mod.

Although both of these are going to work for any model 4Runner, they do not have options to hide or expose the seat heater blanks. This is probably not a game-changer for most people, just something to think about.

Application is Simple

The center console cover ships in a protective plastic sleeve. It was shipped very nice, and well packed.

Make sure you clean your center console thoroughly before placing the carbon fiber console down.

3M Backing

The center console has 3m tape on the underside. Now is a good time to re-position and tape you need to make sure that everything is aligned correctly.

Peel Back 3M Backing

Start peeling back the 3M tape. I started by partially peeling the tape backing off but for this one, you can completely remove all 3M backing.

Place the Carbon Fiber Center Console in Place

Final Thoughts?

Again, clean your center console thoroughly before placing the console cover down.

I like this mod for a few reasons but mainly to protect the factory center console. I am really hard on my interior for some reason. From spilled coffee to spare keys, I feel like my center console just gets destroyed. This is also the main focal point of the 4Runner. When you go to sell your 4Runner, the first thing someone will see is your dash, steering wheel, and center console. This is usually the place that is judged the most on “general wear and tear”.

For the OCD type and anyone out there looking to protect their factory center console, this is a great option.
