8 Unique Bronze Wheel Setups On The 5th Gen 4Runner – Off-Road & Overland Aftermarket Wheel Setups to Inspire Your Build in 2022
This Week’s Topic: Bronze Wheels
It’s Friday! Time to wrap this week up with another Feature Friday. This week, we are checking out 8 killer rigs with bronze wheels. If, you find out that you desperately want some new wheels, and want to see some other options, then also check out this article to see the top off-road wheel companies in the overland community.
Let me just start off by saying that bronze is the new black. It wasn’t that long ago when the aftermarket wheel scene was flooded with black wheels. Don’t get me wrong, black is still a clean and classic option that will match any colored rig. However, bronze wheels are the new king of wheel colors. Prove me wrong!
Call me crazy, but bronze color wheels go with any color. From a bold color like Voodoo Blue to something more mainstream like Super White, bronze just compliments them all so well! Combine a bronze wrap with bronze wheels like the rig you see above? Come on! Not even fair, haha.
Bronze wheels add that bit of flair to your 4Runner that you didn’t know you needed.

Why Do You Need Aftermarket Wheels?
Aside from color, adding aftermarket wheels to your 4Runner can help you achieve additional performance both on and off-road. Most aftermarket wheels are wider than your stock Toyota wheel, allowing you to safely put wider tires onto your 4R without worry.
Aftermarket wheels also allow for various offsets. A more negative offset allows you to achieve a wider stance vehicle, which can result in added stability, that can partially offset your lifted center of gravity. Nothing crazy, but everything affects your truck in the bigger picture. The more you trend towards negative offsets, the more aggressive your stance will be. All depends on how much “wheel poke” you like to see. This is a consistent theme that you’ll find with our featured rigs below.
You can even find aftermarket wheels that are lighter than the factory options, to help compensate for some of the additional weight of those beefy tires you’re going to add. The easier it is for your 4Runner to turn the wheels, the less strain there is on the drivetrain. And of course, they look awesome! Adding new wheels (and usually new tires along with them), drastically affects the look of your Toyota.
Below you will find a variety of wheels. Enjoy everyone, and have a great weekend!
1. Ericka Echols (@e2advntr_4r) – Method Race Wheels
Wheel Specs
- Model: 305
- Size: 17×8.5
- Offset: 0 mm
- Price: ~$275/wheel
What Do You Like About Your Setup?
I love Method wheels! These are the 3rd set of Methods that I have purchased. I chose bronze wheels to add color to my white 4Runner and I couldn’t be happier.
I like everything about my wheels! They are light, causing less stress on my hubs, and look great as well. I went with a matte black lip to add a bit of character to my white 4Runner. Overall, I really like how they look!
2. Alek Kessinger (@themagrunner) – Vision Wheels
Wheel Specs
- Model: Ojos
- Size: 17×9
- Offset: -12 mm
- Price: ~$220/wheel
What Do You Like About Your Setup?
These wheels were new for Vision in 2021. When we purchased them in May, they weren’t a common wheel choice amongst the 4Runner community. In the land of method wheels, we wanted something different. The deciding factor to upgrade was the 9” wheel width allowing us to be more comfortable running a 285/70/17 tire.
3. Romeo Cabras Jr. (@9th_island_runner) – Stealth Custom Series
Wheel Specs
- Model: BR6
- Size: 17×9
- Offset: -38 mm
- Price: ~$250/wheel
What Do You Like About Your Setup?
The bronze BR6s look absolutely awesome against the Voodoo Blue! These wheels by SCS have a very nice aesthetic and are offered at a great price point. I haven’t had issues wheeling with them at all thus far; including mounting/balancing them. The Baja Boss A/T tires complement the wheels perfectly as well!
4. Daniel (@madpews) – Method Race Wheels
Wheel Specs
- Model: 106
- Size: 17×9
- Offset: -44 mm
- Price: ~$550/wheel
What Do You Like About Your Setup?
With true beadlocks, you can run lower tire pressure without worrying about breaking a bead and your tires coming off while off-road. The valve stem is in the middle of the wheel, so you don’t have to worry about rocks breaking it.
The massive offset gives you a much wider stance for better handling both on and off-road. The beadlock ring can be taken off to fix any rock rash on the wheels if you want. I really like the super aggressive look of these wheels!
5. Alfredo Gonzalez (@slvr_wlf) – Falcon Wheels
Wheel Specs
- Model: Atlas T-9
- Size: 17×9
- Offset: -38 mm
- Price: ~$280/wheel
What Do You Like About Your Setup?
I love the star pattern & finish of these bronze Falcon wheels. The wheels complement the silver on my 4Runner in a unique way. The offset offers a nice bit of poke which results in a better stance on the rig. A wider stance allows the 4Runner to perform better both on and off-road as well.
6. Eric Keller (@EVERGREEN_RNR) – Relations Race Wheels
Wheel Specs
- Model: RR7-H w/ Beadlock Rings
- Size: 17×8.5
- Offset: -25 mm
- Price: ~$295/wheel (each) + ~$190/ring (each)
- Grand Total: ~$485
What Do You Like About Your Setup?
RRW offers what they call a hybrid beadlock wheel. This allows you to run the wheel in either a true beadlock or as a traditionally mounted wheel with the option of a protective rock ring.
I went with the true beadlock option when configuring my wheels and I couldn’t be happier. The weight of the true beadlocks is about the same as the OEM wheel making them one of the lightest beadlocks I could find. Running a beadlock serves two purposes, one of which is being able to air down super low in the sand/snow where it is needed most. The second and best benefit to the beadlocks, in my opinion, is that they protect the wheel from damage on the trail. The RRWs fill a very lacking hole in the wheel market for our 4Runners by offering a removable and replaceable beadlock or protection ring.
We spend a lot of money on custom wheels to make personalize our vehicles and if we take them off-road, we risk destroying that investment. Having either the true beadlock or protection rings helps protect that investment and keeps them looking good.
7. Myke Cabras (@cement_rnr) – Rays Wheels
Wheel Specs
- Model: Gramlights 57DR-X
- Size: 18×9
- Offset: 0 mm
- 1-Piece Cast Wheel
- Made in Japan
- Price: ~$450/wheel
What Do You Like About Your Setup?
The main reason why I like these wheels is because of how strong and lightweight they are. I’m an avid off-roader, so these wheels get beaten everywhere I go. They have withstood pretty much everything that I have been able to throw at them so far, and still, look great.
8. Jon Gangloff (@trd.jon) – Relations Race Wheels
Wheel Specs
- Model: RR7-H w/ Black Protection Ring
- Size: 17×8.5
- Offset: -12 mm
- Price: ~$295/wheel
What Do You Like About Your Setup?
I love that with the RRW Hybrid Wheel, you essentially can get 7 options in 1; so you’ll never get bored.
You’re able to run the RR7-H in several configurations:
- Standard wheel alone
- Wheel with outer ring bolts (black or gold bolts)
- With a rock protection ring (steel or aluminum)
- With a true beadlock ring (black or gold bolts)
These wheels are so sick! The matte bronze is also a bit darker than other bronze wheels on the market. I think it compliments my Cavalry Blue 4runner really well.
Final Thoughts
As I mentioned earlier, bronze is definitely the new black when it comes to wheel color. Similar to how black goes with every color, I feel bronze does too. Bronze wheels are definitely a bit bolder, but at the same time, they just work and are totally worth it.
