Auxito Portable Jump Starters – Testing The J503 & AJ01

Auxito’s new portable jump boxes, the J503 with a 6000A capacity and the AJ01 with a built-in air compressor are the newest entries to the growing market of emergency roadside equipment. This device category is uber popular because it allows you to be self-sufficient if your vehicle’s battery dies. Plus, these devices have gotten small enough to fit inside your center console.

Boasting additional functionality such as being a portable device charger, flashlight, and more, Auxito’s lineup of products is sure to have something to meet your needs.

Auxito sent these for us to test and report what we learned. Let’s get into it!

Ultra Portable

Portable jump starters are nothing new. However, like all other consumer electronics, advancing technology makes these devices smaller, smarter, and more powerful. Both the J503 and AJ01 follow this trend.

Using lithium-ion batteries, these units pack enough punch to jump nearly any size gasoline engine and up to a 10L diesel engine. The latter is especially mind-blowing considering that modern-day diesel motors require two batteries.

These state-of-the-art batteries also allow these portable jump boxes to remain charged for several months without use, making them ideal for your vehicle’s emergency kit. From a full charge, there’s enough juice to jump-start up to 60 vehicles, depending on engine size.

How To Use

Some people may be skeptical about using portable jump starters but there is nothing to fear. The Auxito units are simple to use and have instructions clearly printed on the back.

• Step 1. Attach the clamps to the battery pack with its priority connector
• Step 2. Turn your ignition to accessory mode.
• Step 3. Turn on the jump pack and press the start button to enter jump start mode.
• Step 4. Start the vehicle.

There are also safety mechanisms built into the device to prevent you from making a mistake like reversing the polarity.

J503 Vs. AJ01

Both models are solid and bring a lot to the table, including excellent value for the money.

The J503 is an ultra high power 6000 amp jump starter that packs a punch. It has an internal 74.0Wh battery and a 60W USB-C PD power port that can even charge a laptop.

The AJ01 has a whole different set of features suited for outdoor people. Its 3500 amp capacity is enough to jump-start your 4Runner and features a built-in portable air compressor. This allows you to air up bike tires, truck tires, basketballs, and water activity equipment.

While both devices are capable of jump-starting the average crossover or SUV, I found the J503 worked best for my mobile work as it can charge my laptops.

Customer Experience

There’s something to be said about a brand that stands by its products and delivers on its promise.

The emergency equipment market is saturated and hard to stand out in. Upon unboxing, I appreciated the high-quality storage cases and attention to detail with the packaging.

I decided to call Auxito support and was very quickly greeted by an actual human ready to help (what a concept nowadays). I even sent a test email to their support team at 10 PM PST and they promptly responded the next morning. This level of customer service is often hard to find among companies.

J503 Highlight

My favorite feature of this unit is the USB-C 60W PD output.

This key feature alone earned it a place in my vehicle regularly. I often use it to charge my laptop and phones on the go and when working in the field.

If you’re unaware of what PowerDelivery (PD) is, it’s a technology standard that allows other PD-enabled devices to transfer power faster and more efficiently. Standard battery banks, for example, have a maximum output of about 20W.

AJ01 Highlight

The AJ01 is the larger of the two units because of its built-in air compressor, allowing you to inflate car tires up to 50PSI.

This often lives inside my truck as a backup air source on the trail. After all, overlanding is all about having redundant systems to ensure a successful trip.

This portable unit is also a great way to air up bike tires and other accessories such as inflatable water tubes.

Final Thoughts

These products have a respectable feature set and are a great piece of kit to add to any vehicle. Best of all, they’re relatively reasonably priced without sacrificing function or quality.
